The Music Ministry exists to lead the congregation in glorifying God and edifying the Body of Christ through singing. Here at Calvary Chapel Escondido, our desire is to have a singing church and a teaching pulpit.
The men and women who serve on our Worship Team have the opportunity to lead God’s people into the consciousness of God’s presence and glorify Him by exalting the Lord Jesus Christ through music. Jesus is the central focus of our worship (Rev. 5:6-14), and our desire is to point people to Him and lead them “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Eph. 5:19).
It is during the praise and worship time of our services that God begins to work in the hearts of the people and brings victory to their lives. So often, people will come into the sanctuary with a defeated spiritual life, often because they see the evil in this world, the powers of the enemy, or just going through the trials of life, and they get discouraged. Our time of singing together enables God’s people to sing truths about God or to God and see things from the perspective of His power and His ability, which brings great rejoicing and victory. Jesus is always present with us when we gather in His Name (Matt. 18:20; 28:20), yet it is the goal and purpose of the worship team to bring the people into the conscious awareness that Jesus is in the midst of them. Too often, in many churches today, we are aware of the musicians’ presence, or the stage’s presence, rather than the Lord’s presence.
The most vital part of our church gatherings is when God speaks to His people through His Word, however, it is our time of singing that prepares the soil of the hearts to receive the seed, the Word of God. God uses this time of congregational singing to break up the hard ground so that when the seed is planted, it lands on good soil and brings forth fruit. Our worship team leads God’s people right into receiving His Word. The Worship Ministry is a vital part of the ministry here at Calvary Chapel Escondido.
